Zooming of Window Causes Disproportionate Resizing of Text

In IE, when you Zoom out the window...the text zooms some what proportionally to the window so in my web app, nothing breaks.When using Safari, I notices the text still zooms but not proportionally, it appears that Safari is trying to keep the text readable, so the text stays some what large while the rest of the page shrinks...This cause nearly all of my layout to breakup.I looked at Facebook and when you zoom...the now oversized text seems to disappear "beneath" the page. Log into Facebook on Safari or similar and Zoom Out..you will see the text stays big and starts to "hide" or "crop"...not sure what the correct word is.Anyways the point is there layout does not break.How can I design my text so that it does the same...instead of spilling out of the containing element...I want it to stay with in and if necessary(it is to big) to just crop or disapear.
