If you have a large database and have trouble restoring it, one alternative option is to use bigdump to restore the file in chunks which it does rather nicely.Bigdump comes with instructions that makes the task pretty simple, copy the bigdump.php file (after you configure it) to a folder on your server, copy your sql file to the same folder and access bigdump.php in your browser. It should restore the file automatically without error.
