i have created a simple help manual in html that has roughly 250 pages and growing.. i would like to create a way of searching it via a knowledge base. any suggestions? i guess it could search the whole site too, but i especially want it to search the help manual

thanksi should probably add that i will be adding at some point a forum to the site.. (Invision perhaps).. I know it will search the forum but can it also be used to search the whole site and/or the manual?being that it is in html form is a little difficult and not recommended. if they were in a database it would be so much easier.

and invision will only search there database not html files.

have a look at <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.hotscripts.com">www.hotscripts.com</a><!-- w --> for a search script.thanks i will check that out.. any other suggestions out there?

you say html is not recommended.. so how should i do the web based help manual?putting it in a database and using some form of server side language. gives you mor room to advance if you wanted search and userabilityya.. maybe i can get to that point of ability someday, or hire somebody to transfer what i have into a database format

until then hopefully i can figure out a way with a script

thanks againYou know that you can get a google search bar for your web site? When people want to conduct a search they will have the option of searching your site (default) or the whole web. I think this would be the best way forward for you at the moment.

Why not pop along to google, Download the code, and give it a try?thanks for the input.. ya i have considered google as my fallback position if i cant figure out another way... i hesitate on google because they are going to put their adverts in there...

i found one possibility but havent had time to try and figure it out yet...
