I have a new site and I've been trying to start promoting it by doing various link exchanges. I've done a couple, but when I search for the links to my site - the link exchanges don't come up. What could be the reason for this? The sites have good PR's and are in the search engines. Why is this? - Thanks in advance. How long have the backlinks been up? It takes 1-2 updates before they are posted. Also it has been shown that pages called "links" do not pass Pr or backlinks its best to go for sites that have someting different for a file name such as "resources.html" etcOh yeah also remember its not the homepages PR that metters but the PR of the site your linked on. Google often only reports a subset of your actual link count and usually only PR 4+ pagesThanks, and now that I think about it, all the google links they recognize going to my site are not on pages called links. Seeing that, would it be a good idea to cancel these link exchanges with places that are not being recognized or is there still any benefit by it? Thanks.Just ask them nicely to rename their links page to something that can pass PR and keep the exchange, or just get em to put you on a different page. Out of the few hundred sites that I have checked none are passing PR if they use links.html .asp .php or whateverIronically enough you have a link tracking service lolHere is an example of a site that lost hundreds of backlinks from links.html type pages. You will note that morelinks.html hgh-links.html etc are fine just not links by itself as I said. However, I know that only quality links to my site are getting recognized. There is a PR of 6 linking to me, however it is an unrelated topic and on a links.html page. It is not being recognized by google along with a bunch of others. So, I'm going to change my link exchanges with ppl so that they are seen on extra side parts of pages on their sites. However, maybe if a site is popular enough and shows credibility it will get those links? Would Google do it on a case by case basis? Then again I don't really know much, lol.Plus, off my links.html page I have a link to a link exchange form page. Could that of made them not accept the links?
