Hi,

I am looking for a managed server host. actually i am looking for a server where i can host my own websites (not for webhosting).

I am not even sure what is the general rate for this hosting. i did ask in this thread (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=497069 ) and i was suggested that Managed hosting might be good for me.

Please tell me about a good host, and if you think i should go for dedicated server, then please tell me, why "just for me".

thanksWhat price range are you looking to spend ? How many visitors do you get on your websites ? Do you have dynamic pages (php/mysql) ? Heavy images ? Videos ? etc.. :)I do have dynmaic pages, and it'd be extensively used. (PHP/MySQL)i just started, so right now not a lot, but in future i expect to grow. Also, there might be some ecommerce shops on there too. so security is also a concern (not sure if its the host's responsibility or the user's)EDIT: about the budget, i can shed out about $100 per month.Try www.dedicatedplace.comThey are OK.For $100/month, you're going to have a very difficult time trying to find quality management. But it really depends on what your definition of "managed server" is.

Most companies that provide true fully managed servers start at around $299 for a basic server. (It's the management that costs $$.. not the hardware.)

:)

Just plug the numbers. For $100 a month... that might get you perhaps 1/2 hour of a decent server admin's time (assuming about $25/hour for the admin's basic chargeout rate.) Is that enough "management" for your needs?Rackspace is Highly RecommendedRackspace is Highly Recommended

I think Rackspace is a bit out of this OP's league budget wise.

I'd recommend Gnax. They are semi-managed and do a good job of it.I know AxisHost (http://www.axishost.com) provides managed servers (I'm not sure if it is included in the price), and although I have never used them, from what I have heard they are pretty good, and the owner (I believe), AH-Tina, is a frequent poster here ;)Try layeredtech.com and use a 3rd party management - such as platinumservermanagement.com.Give ServINT a run for your money. If you research them you will find they have a long and consistently strong history and reputation and are considered by some as #2 after rackspace (and slightly cheaper).
