Grid web hosting may seem similar to shared web hosting; however, there is a slight difference between the two. While shared hosting implies that hundreds of web sites share one server, grid web hosting means that hundreds of web sites on one server share the same bandwidth and storage provided by other servers. In other words, websites no longer are tied to a single server in grid web hosting.

Grid hosting provides an option to shared hosting, where hundreds of unique Web sites can exist on a single server. It is the combination of computer resources from multiple administrative domains for a common goal. Grid computing is applying the resources of many computers in a network to a single problem at the same time.
