Avtar Problem

I am resently facing a problem in my forum.The problem is related to avtars.

Whenever some one tries to save image for avtar then error message come, UNABLE TO SAVE IMAGE.

Can any one tell me why its coming ?

I checked it with uploading pics within the avtar limits,then also its giving the same error.

Please help me

have you made the custom avatars directory writeable?

chmod forumroot/customavatars/ to 755

are you using the database or the file system to store avatars?

chmod is 755

But i dont know about the database or file system. I just created a database and created a user and entered its name and pass at the config.php file as it was written on installation file.

I am a newbie in administration so dont know much, plz help me
