hey guys,

i need some help here. i`m installing ubuntu 10.04 LTS(desktop) on my old pc. i downloaded the iso via torrent from the ubuntu.com official site.
the install process is getting stuck on the "Where are you" timezone selection screen. I have done a lot of googling. but the problem is
1.i`m unable to understand some of the solutions posted on the net.
2.those mentioned like disable etherent etc havent worked.

i request someone who has faced the problem to post their solution or a linux expert to take a look at the following links and tell me in noob language.

thanks for your time

these are threads reporting of similiar problems

EDIT1: The memory test reported 0 errors. The iso is NOT corrupt Did you try to hit forward and not change the timezone as suggested in one of the provided threads? yeah, tried all those things. i left the pc on without pressing a key for like an hour no use.
