My business partner and I just registered a new corporation the other day but when we went to purchase the domain name, we realized it was already taken.
The problem is that the guy who owns this name is one of those guys that purchases thousands of domain names for $8 each and then tries to resell them for thousands. This guy wanted $20,000 for our name!!!
Now, I know this guy purchased the domain name before our company was created but I'm also sure that his business has no affiliation with this name (i.e. his company bears no resemblance to this domain name. he does no business under this name, etc).
So with that in mind, I was just curious if there was any way I could legally obtain the name without having to pay this guy his ridiculous fee. Could this possibly fall under cybersquatting laws even though he registered it before we became a corporation? At this point, we'd rather pay several thousand to a lawyer rather than $20,000 to this guy.
