Onshore/ offshore explanations

Can someone please explain to me this-

I live in the UK, and host, and have hosted my websites on servers in the USA for the last 5 years.

Is this classed as 'Off-shore' or not?

I ask because I'm running various nulled VBulletin scripts on a few sites at the moment as have some 2.5k members between them.. if my host found out he would probably delete them (I think).

Thanks for any info. :)

In USA is normal hosting not offshore :D

OK Thanks.. so by 'Off-shore'- it means hosted on an island, and not just hosted in a different country from what you live in?

The definition you get for "offshore" depends on who you ask and the context of how its being used, frankly. Very often "offshore" is misused to mean anything not part of the USA. The context you find HERE generally means a Country that does not subscribe to or has no specific laws pertaining to the Copyright Violations that are used to shut sites down in the USA for example.
