Can anybody tell me how to get vmware to work with a Softlayer dedi? I have successfully installed vms before on a different service provider but somehow Softlayer's network is configured differently.
I use vmware for virtualization and the vm is on bridge network.
I input the right details ip, gateway, subnet inside the vm but it still doesn't connect. If I changed to NAT its working - but it uses the dedi's ip. Any way I can make bridging work in this network?
Softlayer may be blocking the VM mac addresses. You need to contact their support They have a mac filtered network, i assume.
You might need to use work around for this .GL! Quote: Originally Posted by vgnheart http://www.wjunction.com/18-server-...eating-vms-softlayer-network.html#post1403228
But when they burned my ips, they said I don't actually need portable ips
I know tech support is a fuck up
