What do you do to improve your forum's SEO?

I installed the VbSEO hack and boy I was sorry so after doing the whole forum over I found some really stupid mistakes that I corrected and increased my traffic 1000% in a day and it is sustainable.
1. My meta file sucked added some better words.. If you use dreamweaver your pages at default have zero words.
2. Robots.txt Make sure you have it and it is setup to point to your sitemap.
3. Generate a good sitemap if you do not know how, use this link Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps Generator and add it to your home directory

EDIT: Sorry...I just saw the last post date. I hope this won't be considered bumping as it is good information for people to read.
I get roughly 16k unique visitors a day on one of my sites and this is what I've done:
1. vBSEO + vbseo sitemap + vbseo conditional sigs
2. A lot of coding just for guests to better improve Code to content ratio
3. Good relevant replacements by using vbseo - this helps a TON. In the last year, I went from 2k uniques to 16k after applying these.
4. Meta tags don't really matter so I only optimized them to make more sense if the SE's happen to use them.
5. A good welcome header image (so words aren't repeating on every page) - though I've recently made it to "non-persistent" bc it just seemed to annoy guests.
6. Off site seo:
- buying links with keywords I'm targetting (usually links with the same titles as my categories i'm targeting)
- I'm on other sites that they gave users blogs and my page is a pr3 or 4 so I use that to push weight to my keywords by posting links and articles to my site
- I link to my site with my other sites using good anchor text
- Active on many social bookmarking sites
7. A few other secrets that I'll be releasing on my new site
8. Oh yeah...content is king. Even if you have the most optimized site in the world, you need good content that people are going to be looking for. You can have a shitty optimized site and still get a shit ton of visitors if you have unique content that people WANT!
Google adsense is also making me roughly $50 USD a day. On good days (like yesterday), I made $70. Last month I netted $1500 (not just from adsense, I use 2-3 other advertising programs).
Even though you guys may think that revenue is good...you guys can achieve much better results with certain niches. My niche is so diluted that I get roughly 2-10 cents a click. I had 558 clicks yesterday...and made a little more than $50.
If you do everything I've stated above, you will make way more than me with probably less traffic. If you end up getting as much traffic as me, expect to be making 100+ per DAY! Probably 150!
