Hi,
I am planning to offer real time video streaming protocol for my members. So I need help in setting up the server to handle this task. But I am stuck after searching thru their faq :-
http://real.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/real.cfg/...hp?p_faqid=4272

How do I exactly setup and be able to offer RTSP in my server?? Does it run concurrently with my server OS?? or setup as "seperate server" ??
Wow, I have to say that's not much of a FAQ..

I've not had any experience with Helix (although I have had some exposure to it) - but have you considered other options? What kind of "realtime" are we talking here? Live feeds? Pre-recorded?

Reason I ask is that Flash video is (imo) the way forward. If you are streaming pre-recorded feeds, you can even get away with using a plain old web server (a la YouTube), and it's not hard to set up. I built a Flash video player in a day at work. Otherwise there are options available for live feeds for Flash (http://osflash.org/red5 for example).

Keep talking, this is style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
I totally agree, Cliffstah has convinced me Flash video is the way forward, though to be honest it didn't need much persuasion!

Cliff certainly did build his own flash player under a day! I witnessed it!

What also impressed me is the compression, .flv' (flash video) has. It converted a 5meg video into just over 1 Meg. Which is great, it streamed really nicely without the use of a streaming server and the quality was the same as the original... very impressive.
