I have been using Photoshop for over 1 year and a half now, but only for drawing and abstract illustrating. Now I want to move to the next level and get engaged with photo editing and retouching, like what we see in pro photos...is there an ebook or online guide that can help me get started with this and refine my skills? Like, separating a person from the background, making them stand out, changing colors etc

I personally have enjoyed PhotoShop Support http//www.photoshopsupport.com/index.html ....which basically gives you new and interesting tips and tricks on a daily basis. Other than that, my best advice would be to search "photoshop" in YouTube which will give a plethora of tutorials, which can be filtered by other keywords, like "photo editing" or "retouching". Best of luck!

Let me know if this helps!

I could never get my head around any ebooks...but, if you can find a copy of Photoshop CS2 Studio Techniques by Ben Wilmore, get it and love it. His book is pretty much the best way to get very good at photoshop in a short period of time. You can probably get it used on Amazon for less than 20 bucks, the knowledge you gain will be well worth it.

There are thousands of Photoshop tutorials on the Internet. Simply type into GooglePhotoshop CS3 How do I.... ? I guarantee you can find a tutorial on any subject. Some sites are better than others. Some offer video tutorials and some only written step by step instructions. There are also dozens of books available. I have two favorites Photoshop CS3 on Demand and Adobe Photoshop CS3 (Visual Quickstart Guide). After you really get going, check out the Photoshop CS3 Wow! book. Photoshop is a great program. Have fun!
