Hello, Quick Question. I am trying to Setup Outlook Express 6 for Windows XP Pro, I Opened up the Start Menu, and Clicked on Outlook Express.. I used Hotmail for the email Service,
So after the Setup was completed, I Then emailed someone, Then after when the Email was Sent, I got this Alert

Could not connect to Hotmail as %s.

Hotmail no longer allows email access via Outlook Express for free email accounts.

Account 'Hotmail', Server 'http//services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol HTTPMail, Server Response 'Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http//join.msn.com/general/Email', Port 0, Secure(SSL) No, Server Error 998, Error Number 0x800CCCF6

Maybe I have to set it up with my ISP...
Comprehension problem? Read the message again! It CLEARLY states that hotmail no longer provides pop 3 service for free email accounts. You want it, pay hotmail! Although setting up outlook isnt a wise idea to begin with, consider the fact that you are far safer dumping outlook and using the web based hotmail interface....that way you can at least select your downloads. By using outlook, you are opening up the possibilities of infecting your pc due to the fact that EVERYTHING in your hotmail account will auto download on your pc!

No stop you probably have a bug in your system.
download malwarebytes.
update it then run it and delete anything it finds,
then come back if you still have a problem.

Outlook Express works with any web based email accounts
free or paid for.
you might not have set it up correctly.

Turnip doesn't know what he's going on about... blamay22000 is correct.

MSN/Hotmail have disabled POP3 access for non-subscribers. That means that no email client will be able to get email from a free Hotmail account.

You'll need to go to MSN.com (not your ISP), and sign up for a paid account - you can use your existing Hotmail account for that, so you don't have to change email addresses.
