How do you replace a wedding band and engagement ring?

I lost them when me and my husband took a mini-vacation, which pretty much ruined a portion of that vacation. We searched everywhere for them, I even put up an ad in the newspaper ...

Just wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar and what they did to kind to, I don't know ... make themselves feel a little better about it? He told me to go out and buy a replacement wedding band, but it would feel pretty meaningless to me if I bought it myself ...
FYI Right now, my husband's out in Kuwait and won't return until December
hey Foolish, why don't you take a couple rings and put them you-know-where ;)
You lost them so if you want to go buy them on your own, go ahead. If you want to wait for him to get home and you can buy them together, then wait. I very rarely take mine off, if ever.

When I lost my wedding band, I went out and bought another one to replace it. It was never the same, but it served the purpose. I lost mine some 25 years ago, but I STILL look for it on occasion...to no avail I'm afraid.

The first winter my husband and I were married, he went ice fishing, slipped on the lake, into a huge snow pile, and lost his ring. It was too big and we didn't get either of our rings sized yet so he didn't know it was gone right away. Couldn't find it anywhere! I was a lot less mad than I thought I would be. He went out and bought his self a new ring. And then a year or so later when we had a little more money, I bought him a nicer one. To me, it's not the ring that is important...It's whether or not he wears it. I understand where you are coming from though. If I lost mine I would want my hubby to buy me a new one. Otherwise, tell him you want him to come with you (at the least) to pick one out. I don't know if I was any help or not, but I hope so. I know how much it sucks losing a ring. (My husbands anyway.) Good Luck!!

I know what you mean about it being meaningless. I lost my whole bridal set last friday fortuantley for me the lady of the house heard us looking for it and the next morning she found it for me. But before I got it back my husband was not hopeful to find it and he said we would just replace it but yeah its not the same meaning. I like the suggestion of the church blessing or renew your vowels with a new set! about making yourself feel better not sure there is away and don't listen to some of these people they don't know the situation So don't say stuff like that and if he forgives you and it was an accident and all just rest assured he loves you and hes not upset about it! Good luck

I've lost two sets and so has my husband, the rings are just a symbol of your commitment, what counts is the vows you made to each other and the love that you share together, that is irreplacable. God knows your heart and your desire, you never know he may buy you one on a special occasion, that's what mine did, after talkin all that yeyang
